Robotics Systems Integration Intern

June - August 2018 • Andover, MA

What I liked

I liked the feeling of working at a defense company where I was able to introduce robotics into a mainly machine-automated field. My co-workers were amazing, they were fun to hang out with, patient when I made mistakes, and were always ready to teach me something new!

What I wish was different

I just wish I could have worked there longer! <3

Pricing Lead

May - August 2018 • Sterling, VA

What I liked

I enjoyed the amount of trust that my supervisor had in me. I was a Finance intern that acted as a Pricing Lead since my team was understaffed. I had to contact multiple estimators and work with the Program Managers to complete the submission deliverables before the contract due date. I also enjoyed meeting with multiple Finance leadership for career discussions during my 15 week internship.

What I wish was different

I wish I received a little more training early on in the process. On my third day, I was given my first proposal to price. It was somewhat stressful trying to learn as I went. More formal training for pricing personnel began towards the end of my internship, but wish it was available earlier.

Advice

Don't expect your full-time position to be a straight 9-5 job. There were a handful of times where I had to stay in the office until 8:30 pm. Although this may be frustrating, you make meaningful connections with your counterparts which can propel your career down the road.

Real engineering work; not stereotypical "intern" duties; was responsible for my own project and seeing it get completed at the end
