Intern - Manufacturing Engineer

Department Introduction

Micron’s Manufacturing Engineering team is dedicated to optimizing production processes and ensuring operational excellence across our fabrication facilities. We collaborate with shift operations and engineering teams to improve performance, reduce cycle time, and maintain the highest standards of quality and safety.

Position Overview

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will be responsible for driving area performance improvements and reducing cycle time through data-driven analysis and collaboration. You’ll work closely with operations teams to address process issues, implement Best Known Methods (BKMs), and lead continuous improvement projects that enhance productivity and quality.

Responsibilities

Finish the mandatory safety training and uphold Micron and Technology Development (TD) safety policies.

Adhere to safety and environmental procedures to ensure compliance with regulations.

Collaborate with shift teams to meet and maintain area performance targets.

Work with Manufacturing Technicians and key customers to develop and implement BKMs across shifts.

Partner with first-shift teams to resolve tool/process setup challenges and improve workstation productivity.

Analyze data to identify root causes of chronic issues and implement preventive measures.

Lead continuous improvement projects, ensuring accurate completion within scope.

Coordinate project activities, track actions, and communicate progress to team members.

Use data analysis to recommend and implement changes to tool qualification requirements.

Minimum Qualifications

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage tasks and projects efficiently.

Basic understanding of Fab process areas and processing equipment.

Solid knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC) principles.

Effective communication and presentation skills.

Intermediate data extraction, analysis, and reporting capabilities.

Experience or knowledge in scripting, programming, or visualization tools (e.g., Python, Java, Tableau, Matlab, JMP, Minitab).

Familiarity with data collection, warehousing systems, and data cleansing.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Engineering or Operations Management.

Experience in semiconductor manufacturing or process optimization.

Exposure to continuous improvement methodologies and project management.
