Vice President

The Asia Group, LLC is now accepting applications for a Vice President (VP) to join our Seoul office. The employee will primarily support the firm’s South Korea portfolio, servicing global company clients.

The Asia Group (“TAG”) is a strategic and business advisory firm supporting Fortune 500 firms in established and emerging markets across the Indo-Pacific region and the United States. The Asia Group’s clients cover a broad range of industries, including high-tech, online platforms, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals and biotechnology, entertainment, defense, energy, financial services, hospitality, and transportation.

The Vice President will be an integral member of TAG’s growing South Korea practice and the broader TAG team to support the firm’s client servicing. A strong candidate will be highly motivated and have a strong grasp of business fundamentals, industries, and geopolitics in the Indo-Pacific region, and have exceptional expertise in politics, policy, business and sectoral knowledge in South Korea. Further, the candidate will support outbound business development efforts and assisting South Korean companies navigate the U.S. and Indo-Pacific markets. An ideal candidate will also have experience and interest in the broader regional policy and regulatory dynamics that shape private sector decisions.

Responsibilities include:

  • Support Korea Practice partner and senior staff in servicing global clients through thorough project management and execution of high-value-added deliverables.
  • Maintain close communication and work closely with the DC-based South Korea Practice and the broader TAG team to facilitate high-quality deliverables for TAG clients
  • Conduct and manage timely and meticulous political,policy, market, and industry research and analysis for South Korea
  • Manage and develop high-quality executive memos, PowerPoint presentations, briefing materials, and other written products for clients and internal audiences, along with the Korea Practice members, often within a tight turnaround time
  • Actively participate in regular client engagements, including briefing sessions and workshops, alongside partners and senior staff
  • In close coordination with partners and Korea Practice senior staff, partake in external engagements to further clients’ interests and support with TAG business development
  • Provide logistical and substantive support for client engagements, TAG partner and senior staff visit to Seoul, and events. Provide support for client executive travel.

Job Requirements

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Korean
  • Outstanding English with exceptional research, analytical, writing, and briefing skills in English. Should be able to brief clients in English on subject matter, as well as TAG partners and senior staff.
  • Advanced degree (e.g., M.A., MBA) in relevant areas, including international business, international affairs, or equivalent practical experience in South Korea.
  • At least 7-10 years of relevant work experience, preferably in government relations, a client-servicing industry, or government experience, with extensive network in the public and private sector.
  • Deep understanding of the South Korean political and policy landscape, and private and sectoral industry landscape.
  • Management experience in organizations.
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced environment with multiple tight deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated team player with a positive and professional attitude.
  • Eager for professional development and adept and open to gaining new skills and expertise.
  • Skilled at Microsoft Office and ability to adopt and utilize new programs including various AI platforms.
  • Ability to take initiative and proactively contribute to the team and TAG’s growth.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise and on-the ground experience in South Korea
  • Familiarity with South Korean policies impacting global businesses in an array of industries, such as digital, energy, defense, semiconductor, AI and advanced technology, and pharmaceutical.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the broader geopolitical dynamics, including U.S-China dynamics and South Korean foreign policy, including with the Indo-Pacific region.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the political dynamics in and surrounding North Korea
