Position Description: 

Radiance Technologies, a rapidly growing employee-owned company, is seeking a Laboratory Manager to support the buildup and operation of a microelectronics development laboratory under the Electronic Systems and Cyber Technologies Group. This laboratory will be responsible for small scale, prototype production of custom Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs) and advanced semiconductor packaging solutions. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a laboratory setting while engaging in cutting-edge research and development in the area of Secure Microelectronics, Anti-Tamper (AT) and Protective Technologies (PT).

 

The lab manager will: 

  • Contribute to the ongoing planning and setup of laboratory design including process flow, equipment, and other infrastructure needs
  • Develop and execute on plans for prototype production runs of Printed Circuit Boards (PCBs) and advanced chip packages
  • Be responsible for operation, calibration, and preventative maintenance of all laboratory equipment
  • Work within engineering team to contribute to design development, coordinate production scheduling, and validation testing
  • Ensure laboratory adheres to an AS9100 Quality Management System and other relevant standards
  • Recommend approachs for new or improved products or processes
  • Prepare cost estimates, schedules, and technical documentation on proposed projects
  • Author and present technical reports and presentations on lab activities, project status, and findings
  • Stay current with industry standards and best practices by reviewing literatures, patents, and new technologies
  • Plan, conduct, and technically direct projects or major phases of signficant projects, coordinating the efforts of engineers and technical support staff in the performance of assigned projects
  • Define laboratory standard operating procedures and provide training to technical team members and subcontractors as necessary

     

The duties will include, but are not limited to, overseeing day-to-day operations of the laboratory, including equipment maintenance, process improvement, and quality control. The lab manager will be a key person in this small-scale production process to deliver cutting-edge products to customers. 

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or closely related discipline
  • US citizenship with the ability to obtain a clearance
  • Minimum of 5 years of applicable experience (2 years substitution for MS / 5 years substitution for PhD in relevant discipline)
  • Knowledge and experience in a small-scale production environment from raw material input to finished assembly inspection and verification
  • Experience under a Quality Management System, such as AS9100
  • Knowledge of and experience adhering to Environment, Health, and Safety (EHS) regulations pertaining to hazardous chemical usage/disposal and heavy machinery operation
  • Experience with production inspection and verification methods and geometry dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with rigid, rigid-flex, and flex PCB design and production
  • Experience with electroless plating 
  • Experience working with a development team to rapidly iterate designs
  • Experience in process flow design, especially related to electronic systems
  • Experience or knowledge of microelectronics packaging techniques
