Mechanical Engineering Intern

Kyocera has a temporary internship position for a Mechanical Engineering Intern at our San Diego, CA facility. Candidates selected for hire will be hired through one of Kyocera’s approved staffing partners. 

Pay is $25 per hour

We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Intern to support upgrades to the manual lidding press, clip system, and prototype snap-cure machine. The intern will assist with system qualification, process evaluation, and improvements aimed at enhancing equipment capability and reliability. 

Key Responsibilities:

-Design of small-volume/prototype lidding machine 

- Support qualification activities for the new machine that will replace a manual method. 

- Assist in completing and validating the prototype snap cure machine. 

- Collect process data, document results, and support engineering analyses. 

- Work with engineering teams to evaluate system performance and identify improvement opportunities. 

- Prepare documentation and present findings to the engineering team. 

-Work with production staff to validate functionality and implement process improvements

Qualifications:

-Pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automation/Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field. A Junior or Senior student is preferred for this internship program.  

- Strong CAD design, analytical, mechanical aptitude, and documentation skills. 

- Ability to work hands-on with manufacturing equipment and follow engineering procedures. 

- Interest in automation, machine evaluation, and process improvement.
