Join the pack at the JP! Wolfspeed is looking for an Equipment Engineer to join our Wafer Operations Engineering team at the world’s largest silicon carbide manufacturing complex in Siler City, North Carolina.
In this role you will drive continuous improvement in the Global Materials organization through equipment installation, design and reliability focused initiatives. You will utilize data to drive actions and own multiple projects that improve equipment effectiveness.
This posting is for a position that will directly support operations at the John Palmour Manufacturing Center for Silicon Carbide, our expansion site in Siler City, NC. The person in this role will train at our Durham, NC headquarters initially. Individuals in this role will work 8-hour days on either a Sunday-Thursday or Tuesday-Saturday pattern in order to support 24x7 manufacturing operations at our site.
The Day-to-Day:
- Manage capital expansion projects from budgeting to installation to production
- Own continuous improvement projects aimed at improving yield, throughput, uptime, and safety
- Own toolsets and be responsible for tracking and improving critical reliability metrics
- Analyze data using sound statistical methodology to drive improvements in equipment and process metrics
- Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) teams that drive to true root cause and implement effective Corrective and Preventative Actions (CAPAs)
- Implement equipment reliability concepts such as condition monitoring and predictive maintenance
- Provide optimal spare parts rationale plans for tools
- Mechanical, electrical, networking, computer, coding, PLC, vacuum, automation and toxic gas troubleshooting
- Create and maintain documentation such as preventative and reactive maintenance procedures
- Partner with the Process Engineering team to drive yield & cycle time improvements
This Job is Right for You if You Have:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Preferably Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Chemical or related)
- 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing setting, preferably semiconductor
- 1+ years in manufacturing, equipment, reliability or process engineering role (including internship or Co-Op experience)
- Working knowledge and experience of applied statistics (SPC/DOE) and structured problem-solving methods such as 8D, 5 whys, A3 and DMAIC in a manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work both autonomously as well as part of a team, taking ownership of tasks and projects
- Willing to work in non-cleanroom and cleanroom type environments
- Experience with highly automated material handling systems
- MS Office suite proficiency
Preferred Qualifications:
- Front-end Semiconductor substrate processing experience
- 2+ years in manufacturing, equipment, reliability or process engineering role
