Qorvo Richardson Texas is seeking a Facilities Electrical Engineer, working within in a team environment, to provide engineering, design, and support for facilities operations and manufacturing. The Electrical Engineer also provides troubleshooting for the following systems site wide: electrical substation, switchgear, primary power distribution, building power, lighting, UPS, Motor Control Centers, VFD's and Generator.
Additional Responsibilities Include:
- Evaluate existing electrical elements on-site for safety and integrity and provide recommendations for improvements.
- Possess thorough knowledge of low and medium voltage electrical distribution systems including transformers, low voltage substations, generators, and UPS systems, ability to review and challenge cost estimates, budgets and ROI analysis.
- Knowledge of the latest NEC codes, including life safety and building code, with ability to read and interpret design drawings and specifications.
- Drive continuous improvement and support sustainability goals through implementation of energy reduction projects
- Ownership of electrical operations and associated distribution system ensuring quality and consistency of the maintenance of the overall electrical system
- Collaboration and management of on-site electrical contractors and Transmission & Distribution Service Provider
- Troubleshoot electrical system problems, conduct breaker coordination and arc flash studies, track electrical load and capacity
- Drive power quality improvement initiatives to reduce Fab impacts, improve efficiency and identify cost savings
- Track, trend and analyze electrical system usage
Safety & Quality
- Uses and reviews Site Incident Prevention Plan (SIPP) for all electrical work completed on site
- Follows all safety and environmental procedures to ensure compliance with applicable regulations
- Proactively seeks opportunities to reduce potential hazards which may impact personnel safety and/or the environment
- Operates and maintains equipment and tools within manufacturer’s and company guidelines to ensure safety and quality expectations are met
Communication & Collaboration
- Collaborates with facilities, equipment and process engineering to support operations
- Coordinates with collaborators and leaders on issues and changes, and provides regular status updates
- Listens to customer feedback, recognizes opportunities and provides feedback for technical innovation
- Communicates highly sophisticated information to internal and external contacts
- Communicates with Procurement and appropriate partners on new system purchases
Project Management/Planning
- Uses a systematic project management methodology to develop, prioritize and lead projects
- Participates in mid to long-term infrastructure planning for facilities in support of the overall Site plan
- Tracks actions and provides critical issue path or resources to ensure actions will be completed on time
- Prepares electrical project scope and ensures necessary input for projects
- Coordinates and leads meetings and initiates follow-up actions with projects that are primarily electrical
- Helps to shape strategic decisions and provides technical support
Technical/Data Analysis
- Provides effective and timely leadership to resolve issues and is highly engaged in key problem resolution
- Provides consultation and technical support to Operations, Maintenance, Manufacturing and other department/sites
- Provides engineering support to ensure facility compliance with federal, state, and local laws
- Identifies and develops a strategy for equipment/processes that streamlines PM frequencies and effectiveness
Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree
- At least 1-2 years relevant work and or internship experience highly desired.
- Semiconductor or experience in a manufacturing environment - A plus
