Analog Mixed-Signal IC Design - Summer Intern

Seeking an Analog/Mixed-signal IC design engineering student to develop ICs for EVs, Industrial Control, Industrial Power and Green Power applications. The position requires a strong analog circuit design background, familiarity with schematic capture, architecture definition, circuit implementation and layout of CMOS analog circuits.  Depending on the experience level and the design stage of the projects at the time of the internship, the individual will participate in block architecture definition, detailed circuit design, layout supervision, verification of the block, chip level verification and/or lab validation. Responsibilities will also include producing detailed documentation, presenting several design reviews showing work progress throughout the summer, and collaborating with other team members to ensure a robust and high-quality design product.

Responsibilities
•    Architects, designs and verifies circuits, systems and/or algorithms to meet product requirements
•    Deliver work product in a timely manner to ensure business success
•    Demonstrates good judgment and quantitative analysis in solving design problems
•    Regularly presents design reviews to demonstrate results and obtain feedback
•    Attends design reviews to provide input and learn from other designer’s experiences
•    Research design techniques through a review of previous product documentation and trade publications
•    Validates a design that meets all the required specifications

Education Requirements
•    Current student pursuing either an MSEE or PhD in electrical engineering

Minimum Requirements
•    Familiarity with Cadence design tools
•    Familiarity with CMOS transistor behavior and device physics
•    Understanding AC/DC analysis (poles, zeros, compensation), loop dynamics and feedback systems
•    Design experience with references, bandgaps, oscillators, regulators, high-speed comparators
•    Comfortable with frequency and time domain analysis of complex mathematical systems
•    Familiarity with CMOS layout and layout best practices
•    Experience with standard electrical engineering lab equipment
•    Good written and verbal presentation skills

Additional Skills (one or more of these are highly desirable)
•    Experience with CMOS design at supplies above 5V
•    Experience with system analysis (power supply rejection, error budgeting, signal chain optimization of SNR)
•    Experience with complex analog design tasks (ADC, DAC, signal chains, high voltage designs)
•    Experience with HV processes and devices(EDMOS, LDMOS, Zeners etc)
