Process Engineering Intern
Role Overview:
As a member of the Engineering Team, the Process Engineering Intern will work alongside experienced engineers providing mentoring, guidance, and introductions to colleagues.
This Internship with MACOM will help the Intern to gain valuable work experience in a key discipline, build professional relationships, and take ownership of a business-critical project.
During the 12 weeks each Intern will:
> Be given an individual and well-defined project with set outcome goals
> Gain hands on experience
> Receive excellent training and ongoing supervision
> Be invited to attend an intern webinar series
> Attend networking/social events
> Attend and present at Poster Session about each Interns project successes and pitfalls
> Receive formal, written feedback
Requirements:
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar.
Prerequisite Skills and Experience:
Base knowledge of mechanical and/or chemical engineering, best with experience in a semiconductor backend (assembly) environment (physics, chemistry, general engineering, thermodynamics, material science). Good data analysis and DoE capabilities, precise documentation abilities, innovative, independent thinking and problem-solving skills will get you the internship.
Additional Desirable Skills:
- Experience in a Semiconductor Backend operation (Die Attach, Wire Bonding, SMT Assembly).
- JMP or similar software to provide statistical data analysis for data based decision making. DoE (Design of Experiment)-understanding on how to setup and execute.
- Understanding of failure Analysis methods like DSC, TGA, EDX (handling these or similar types of equipment is a plus).
- 3D printing and modeling capabilities are great to have (machining capabilities).
- Good skills of visualization and creating documentation of your work and experiments. Accurate description and documentation of your data and DoEs is key for finding good solutions based on physical models and theoretical possible dependencies.
- Equipment handling of Datacon EVO220 (or any other backend assembly equipment) is a plus.
